OUR MISSION
The Kathleen & Eddie Arthur Hearts of Love Foundation is committed to providing financial assistance and support to low-income families, most of whom are living in the Chirilagua area of Alexandria, Virginia. We work to enable low-income youth to access and partake in the same opportunities that are afforded to their peers of higher socio-economic standing. We also support women in distressed, abusive relationships and provide assistance and direction that will allow them and their children to live safe and secure lives that are free from abuse.
ABOUT US
The Fund was created in 2019 to continue the legacy of Kathleen and Eddie Arthur, long-time Alexandria residents who believed in helping the less fortunate. The Fund's sole purpose is to identify and respond to essential needs of others in Alexandria.
Since 2019, the Fund has disbursed over $202,000 to partner organizations and local initiatives.

Casa Chirilagua
We provide funding for our closest partner Casa Chirilagua for their Middle School Youth Program for all of 2022 as they provide for the youth of families in need; through schooling, languages, mentoring, tutoring, encouragement, and confidence building.

Domestic Violence Safehouse Alexandria
In January 2022, we created & funded a new department at Domestic Violence Safehouse, where we assist women and children in departing the program safely and securely.

Grace Episcopal Church
We help low-income families in the Grace Church neighborhood who need assistance. This includes rent, utilities, backpacks for school, gift cards for food, car repairs, etc. until they can get into a permanent local or federal program.

Mother of Light
We are committed to fund a four month internship program where low-income youth will work as interns and will be mentored, tutored, and encouraged.

Local Nonprofits Provide Free Medical Care
In partnership with the National Breast Center Foundation, Alexandria Celebrates Women, Neighborhood Health, and Nueva Vida, we plan to assist women with breast cancer/breast issues in getting free medical care and appointment transportation. (Program launching: October 2022)

In partnership with the Lazarus Program at Christ Church Alexandria, we help provide financial assistance for those in need.
