Domestic Violence Safehouse

“During our time in Law Enforcement, we witnessed many egregious acts of abuse against women and children. Knowing this Fund will support the victims when they leave the Safehouse is a huge steps towards their safety and security, allowing victims the hope for a new life.”

About

Ed Arthur (Founder) with Debbie Evans of Domestic Violence Safehouse Alexandria and Pat Mill of Alexandria Celebrates Women

Building a partnership with Domestic Violence Safehouse’s Debbie Evans and Alexandria Celebrates Women Pat Miller

We partner with the Domestic Violence Safehouse in the Alexandria area to help the women and children who suffer from domestic violence.

We determined that one area where we could immediately make a difference in is when victims leave the Safehouse to try and resume normal life on the outside. Often they leave with minimal resources such as money, temporary housing, household products, and clothing. This can result in the victim returning to the abuser.

How We Are Assisting

  • The Fund will assist in any area needed to support women and families during the transition.

  • We provide apartment rents, security deposits, and child care so they can get back into normal routines without returning to their previous homes, allowing them to separate themselves from the abuser.

  • In January 2022, we created & funded a new department at Domestic Violence Safehouse, where we assist women and children in departing the program safely and securely.

  • Sponsoring a fundraising event on Dec. 6th for a Christmas Carol play at Little Theatre. In partnership with with Alexandria Celebrates Women and joining Frida Hopper of Sotheby Real Estate to raise 10K for the Safehouse.
